Well I never purchased my Coolsats directly from Freetech, neither did 90% of the people, they purchased from retailers and distributors.
Besides this is all old now and I think it was more of a scare tatic than anything. CS is dead, VS is dead, SV is on their way out, the new boxes are Kbox and NFusion, and new players arriving on the scene, the problem with this hobby is it requires purchasing a new box everytime.

It will always be a cat & mouse game.

Well, this is an old article and in a more recent court ruling against VS, the court did rule that DN could gather customer info from units sent in for warranty repair. They did however limit DN to what could be done with the info.

hey

well what dale says is right they figure that if the chip was modified then they are breaking the law and could get the info on the consumer but if not they could not obtain the personal info,
as for the 3500 buck thing that was DTV that did that not DN but who knows if N3 get broke who knows what they will think of LOL

Criminal vs Civil Law

PabLO - Most attempts are going the civil route to try and collect "damages". Civil cases are easier to prosecute, only requiring to prove "more probably true than not", wheras criminal prosecution requires proof "beyond a reasonable doubt".

I thank people is smarter than that. Why would any dummys send in a modified box of any kind. When they know (1) It voids the warentee. (2) And it states on all brands sites that they will not except boxes that is motified. Now if someone sends in a motified box they deserve what they get. If it brakes take a hammer to it. Then buy a new one like I did every time. Testing SV,VS,PS & CS.
